Ibanez X-ING 2010 Guitar/Synth Controller
Ibanez produced this MIDI guitar for a couple of years starting in 1986. It's got an associated rack unit which produces MIDI data for controlling synthesizers. (It creates no syntheizer sounds of its own.) The two humbuckers produce very fine tones, and the large toggle switch and 2 knobs are dedicated to the standard neck/both/bridge switching as well as master volume and tone. The other knobs are for blending the synth sound with the guitar, synth pickup sensitivity and a dedicated MIDI continuous controller. The whammy bar does not bend the strings. It is used as another MIDI event controller. The neck is ebony, who knows what the body is since it's (gasp) painted. I vow to strip off that ugly stuff one day and reveal the beauty of the wood beneath. The guitar's balance is very nice, let go and it stays at a playable 20º angle, and the action is down to barely there with no buzz. |
